2008 Conventions

The White House Project is thrilled to announce our series of events at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in Denver, Colorado and the Republican National Convention in Saint Paul, Minnesota. We are partnering with a number of wonderful organizations to bring a wide range of thought-provoking and inspiring events to both conventions--keep reading to see what we're doing and how you can get involved!

"Unconventional Women"

Future Frontrunners Summit

A day-long summit will be held for winners of Lifetime's Future Frontrunners contest to identify the next generation of women leaders. The contest for high school & college students, part of Lifetime's Every Woman Counts campaign to engage women in the political process, was launched in partnership with CosmoGIRL!'s Project 2024 to promote girls leadership and Declare Yourself, a nonpartisan, non-profit campaign to register more 18-year-olds to vote.  At the summit, winners will hear from the country's top women leaders, including Members of Congress, key political and business leaders, journalists and advocates.  Winners will also visit the convention floor.

"14 Women"

The White House Project, in partnership with Best Buy and Women's Leadership Forum (WoLF), will celebrate women’s leadership with an exclusive screening of the documentary film, "14 Women." The screening will be in conjunction with the IMPACT Film Festival.

“14 Women” offers a bi-partisan look at the women in the US Senate in 2006. The camera captures public time in Committee and at the Conventions, and also goes behind the scenes to cramped commuter planes, breakfast tables and little league games.
