When Marie Wilson and Carolyn McKecuen started Take our Daughters to Work Day© at the Ms. Foundation over fifteen years ago, they showed young girls the unlimited nature of their potential in the workforce. The program challenged girls to dream big and envision themselves as accomplished women, while providing an opportunity for both women and men to encourage and connect with the young girls in their lives.

Join us at The EPIC Awards on March 30, 2009 at the United Nations in New York City. We are proud to be honoring Voto Latino for the outstanding impact that they have had in the last four years on the next generation of Latinas. Their work reflects our own values and our goal of bringing traditionally unheard voices to the table. Rosario Dawson, Co-Founder and María Teresa Petersen, Executive Director will accept the award. First launched in 1992 and now in its fifth presidential election cycle, Lifetime Network's Every Woman Counts Campaign will receive an EPIC Award for their pioneering public service campaign dedicated to encouraging women to speak out on the issues they care about most, vote and run for office. Andrea Wong, President and CEO will accept the award.

It's been a tremendous year for breaking barriers on many fronts, and today we at The White House Project are proud to recognize the victories of both the Obama-Biden campaign and the record-setting number of women who will be joining the ranks of our elected leadership across this country.
In January 2009, a record number of women will serve in the 111th Congress--17 women in the US Senate and at least 74 women in the House of Representatives. For the first time ever, The White House Project has created a three-day leadership training program for women who show leadership potential and have a vision for what to do with it.
